On 19 October 2023, the State Administration Council of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar issued Notification No. 217/2023 and 218/2023, which provides that the Industrial Design Law and Copyright Law will be effective on 31 October 2023. Industrial Design Law and Copyright Law were signed into law in 2019 by the Assembly of the Union (Pyidaungsu Hluttaw).

Recently, on 29 September 2023, the Ministry of Commerce Myanmar issued the Industrial Design Rules by Notification No. 67/2023. In the rules, industrial designed-related matters are clarified, including the appointment of a representative, the examination of an industrial design, the opposition of a design application, the priority claims process, registration, assignment and licensing of industrial design.
